Where Should You Start When Furnishing Your Home?

Where Should You Start When Furnishing Your Home?

We recommend starting with your "foundation pieces." Your foundation pieces should include the Core essentials. These foundation pieces are defined as the following:

1. Living Room - Sofa & Chairs
2. Dining Room - Dining Table & Chairs
3. Master Bedroom - Bed, Nightstands & Dresser

Living Room:

Your seating should be centered around a main focal point, such as the fireplace, eye-catching view, a television, or even a meaningful piece of art. Centering your foundation pieces around this focal point balances the space and creates a conversation area for gatherings of large parties or a movie night for two.

    Dining Room:

Your dining room furniture should accommodate how much seating you need daily vs. special occasions or holidays. A self-storing leaf is a good solution to allow entertainment for bigger parties as necessary or desired. Extra seating can be placed around the room to accentuate another piece, such as a buffet console.

Master Bedroom:

Your bedroom should accommodate comfort and create a haven for rest and relaxation. Having additional storage will help keep your bedroom neat and tidy.

The best way to determine your layout is to walk through your space, take measurements, and determine your needs and wants. Find out what you love and dislike about the space, while keeping in mind what is functional and flowing.
